Swinburne University of Technology has been named amongst the top research-intensive universities in the world according to a number of prestigious world academic ranking lists. 

For the third consecutive year, Swinburne has been ranked among the world's top 400 (top 3%) universities in the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)

This places Swinburne equal tenth among Australian universities and third in Melbourne.

Swinburne is also ranked within the top 75 in the world in the field of physics, making Swinburne the only Australian university outside the Group of Eight to achieve a top 75 rating in any discipline.

Swinburne has also been named in the top 400 in the Times Higher Education University World Rankings 2013-2014 and top 500 by the QS World University Rankings 2013

Additionally, The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2013 ranked Swinburne’s computer science and information technology, sociology, psychology, and communications and media disciplines amongst the top 200 in the world.

Swinburne has been recognised for educational experience, generic skills, teaching quality, graduate satisfaction and staff qualifications in the Good Universities Guide 2014.
