New Unilink Pathways into Multimedia Programs

From 2008, Swinburne's Unilink Business and Unilink Information Technology (IT) courses are offering students new pathways into the following degrees:

Bachelor of Multimedia
Bachelor of Multimedia (Business Marketing)
Bachelor of Multimedia (Media Studies)
Bachelor of Multimedia (Games and Interactivity) / Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Software Engineering)
Bachelor of Arts (Games and Interactivity)

Students who successfully complete all subjects in the Unlink Business or Unilink IT courses will be able to articulate into the above courses. Eligible students can also gain some exemptions towards their undergradute degree.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) / Biotechnology

In 2008, there will be a new opportunity for students to undertake a packaged program of postgraduate courses in Good Manufacturing Practices and Biotechnology.
This is a two year program.

The program incorporates the Graduate Diploma of Biotechnology and the Master of Science (Good Manufacturing Practices).*

Students undertaking this packaged program of courses will gain skills from biotechnology and GMP, providing a much broader educational experience.

* Successful completion of the 1 year Graduate Diploma in Biotechnology provides a 1 semester exemption in the Master of Science (GMP)

Progression from BBus (eComm) into 1 year MBus (eBus and Comm)

All students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Business (eCommerce) with a credit average and apply for entry to the Masters of Business (eBusiness and Communication), to commence in the semester immediately following, will be exempt from the Graduate Certificate level studies. This will leave 8 units in 12 months to complete the Masters level, with an additional 6 months for the 4 units of the Masters (Hons) level (optional). This situation also applies to students who apply for the Bachelor of Business (eCommerce) and Master of Business (eBusiness and Communication) as a combined program.

Special Bachelor + Master Fast-Track Program in IT

Swinburne offers a 2 year Bachelor of Science (IT) and Master of IT, a fast-track program designed so that students complete the BSc (IT) in the first year and the MIT in the second year. This program is directed at students who have completed the first 2 years of a degree in an information technology field. Once commencing the course students may exit after the first year with their BSc(IT) or choose to continue on into their final year of MIT.

Entry into the 2 year BSc(IT) and MIT requires completion of two years of study in a recognised IT Bachelor degree or equivalent. The BSC (IT) annual course fee is A$18,250 and the MIT annual course fee is A$18,250. Students who complete the BSc(IT) program and progress immediately on to the MIT are eligible for a 15% discount on MIT fees.

Master of Science - Biotechnology
The Master of Science - Biotechnology equips graduates for careers in biochemistry and biotechnology related to the medical, health, agricultural and environmental industries. The course provides flexible options that allow students within the course to take out major studies in chemistry, environmental science, computer science, business, or media and communications.

 

Bachelor of Business
The Bachelor of Business equips students with a diverse range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare them for the demands of tomorrow's business world. Swinburne takes particular pride in producing business graduates who are employment-ready, of immediate practical relevance to their employers and capable of excellent career development from a strong commencing base. Depending on units studied, graduates may apply for membership or associate membership to various professional bodies such as the Australian Human Resources Institute, CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Computer Society.

 

Bachelor of Technology - Aviation
The Bachelor of Technology - Aviation prepares students for careers in the aviation industry as professional pilots. This course provide a high level of both flying prowess and the ability to solve problems through the application of methodical and rational thinking. During the three year duration of the course, adequate time and facilities are provided to enable the students to undertake the flying training necessary to reach Commercial Pilot Licence standard based on a 150 hour integrated flying syllabus.

 

Bachelor of Design - Communication Design
The Communication Design program aims to produce imaginative designers, who work effectively in areas where information is primarily conveyed by visual means - such as advertising, publishing, publicity, printing, merchandising, multimedia, education and research. The course educates students to be effective designers and communicators through a wide variety of visual communication based projects, together with contextual and professional studies. Through the program's strong links with industry, graduates are well placed to seek employment in advanced areas of communication design. Graduates of the course are eligible for Associate Membership of the Design Institute of Australia and the Australian Graphic Design Association.
