Swinburne sharpens focus on student safety
Swinburne has sharpened its focus on student safety with the installation of a high-tech security system across our five Melbourne campuses.
The university’s security and IT departments have worked together to install a 24-hour CCTV system built around existing infrastructure.
“Now our security staff can see what’s going on around campus and can be more aware of the safety of students and staff,” says Swinburne’s Security Manager Grant Harrison.
“We’ve many thousands of international students whose lives revolve around campus. We have to meet their safety needs and that’s the primary purpose of the cameras.”
Swinburne also provides a 24-hour escort service where security staff can walk students to their car, train station or another destination close to campus.
