Swinburne TAFE has been recognised as the best in Victoria’s training system by winning the Large Training Provider of the Year and two other accolades at the 2009 Victorian Training Awards.

Bill Scales, Swinburne’s Chancellor, described the three awards as “testament to the dedication and capability of all our TAFE staff.”
The 2009 Victorian Training Initiative of the Year went to Swinburne’s Young Mums VCAL program, which enables young mothers aged 15 to 20 to continue their education in a supportive baby-friendly environment.
After studying sports and recreation at Swinburne, Yuta Kobayashi won the 2009 Victorian Trainee of the Year award. His studies at Swinburne have led him to secure a full-time role as Community and Sponsorship Executive at the Carlton Football Club.
Linda Brown, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director, TAFE commented that it was a privilege to pick up the award on behalf of the organisation.
This was the first time Swinburne had entered the Training Provider category and was a testament to over a decade of excellence in education and training.
