Swinburne's Recent Rankings
Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings
Swinburne earned its place in the top 500 universities worldwide in the 2008 Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings.
The rankings set out to give an up-to-date and rounded assessment of the world’s leading universities and – at a time of unprecedented mobility in international education – are seen with increasing importance by students and academics alike.
Vice-Chancellor Ian Young says Swinburne’s ranking is a considerable achievement, particularly for a relatively small institution among an estimated 8000 universities worldwide.
“[It] reflects Swinburne's growing international reputation as we move towards achieving our 2015 Vision,” he says. “It is gratifying to see that our efforts to ensure excellence in all that we do and to strengthen Swinburne in bringing growing international recognition.”
The rankings are determined by academic peer review, employer survey, student faculty ratio, research performance and the proportion of each institutions international faculty and international student numbers.
Good Universities Guide 2009
Swinburne is ranked as Melbourne's best university for Teaching Quality and Cultural Diversity, and as one of the top universities in Melbourne for Graduate Satisfaction, according to the Good Universities Guide 2009.
