AusAID at Swinburne
In 2000, AusAID released its first competitive tender for the Provision of Training Services. Of the 39 institutions who tendered, Swinburne was one of 19 universities that were successful and one of only three for the TAFE sector nationally.
Swinburne has provided an AusAID student program for over 10 years. We've hosted a variety of scholarships (including ADS, ALA, APS and Endeavour Awards) to students from countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, East Timor, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Laos, Maldives, Micronesia, Mongolia, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Vietnam and Wallis and Futuna.
Within Swinburne International, the Sponsored Students Unit is the first point of contact for all AusAID students. An AusAID Student Contact Officer (SCO) is responsible for ensuring that Swinburne complies with the terms and conditions of the AusAID contract. The SCO oversees the academic and social wellbeing of all AusAID students and ensures that those students who have come to Australia with families are provided with appropriate community support.

Australia Awards
The Australia Awards have been established to maximise the benefit to Australia of its extensive scholarship programs, and to support enduring ties between Australia and our neighbours.
The Australia Awards will bring together the international development awards administered by AusAID and the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations' Endeavour Awards under a single recognisable brand.
These programs provide a variety of opportunities across the undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational education sectors as well as research and professional development.
