What is Homestay?
Homestay means living with a local family or resident. It is a cultural exchange between a local individual or family (called a Host) and a visiting international student.
The student lives as a guest in the Host's home and the program is a great way for students to learn English and experience the Australian lifestyle. Homestay is the safest and most successful way that a visiting student can begin their time in Australia.
What's included in Homestay?
- A clean furnished room (this includes items like a bed, desk, wardrobe, chair and a study lamp), as well as a supportive family environment and home to live in.
- Meals (as specified) and Accommodation (including utilities)
- Ongoing Homestay Host and student support
- AHN 24/7 professional phone support
- AHN Contents Insurance for Students and Hosts as per AHN Insurance Policy
Students are matched by a fully trained AHN Supervisor to a suitable Australian host according to the specific student needs and education provider location. The visiting student will have access to bathroom and laundry facilities as well. Students are welcome to extend their original homestay placement and can choose a range of AHN meal service options. Homestay Conditions
- Homestay Fees vary depending on the type of meal and room options chosen by the student.
- If you’re over 18- you can expect to pay $38 per night / $265 per week for the first 28 days. Under 18-$41 per night / $285 per week which ** INCLUDES- 3 meals per day - NO bond, furnished room, utilities, 24/7 phone support line, contents insurance cover and hosted orientation into the community. - Homestay bookings should be made at least ten days prior to arrival
- Placement fee - A$230 paid at the time of lodging an application
- Minimum 28 day / 4 week Homestay – paid in advance prior to placement
