Overseas Health Cover

It is compulsory for all international students holding student visas, and their dependants, to maintain adequate Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) throughout their course of study. Exceptions - Norwegian and most Swedish students on government funded programs, as the Australian Department of Health and Ageing has advised that these countries have national health schemes which provide adequate health insurance overseas.

OSHC Worldcare

OSHC Worldcare is one of the providers authorised by the Australian Government to provide OSHC to international students in Australia. It is the preferred provider at Swinburne University of Technology and was selected after an extensive selection process.

They specialise in providing quality services to international students and have been selected preferred provider in over 75% of Australian universities.

OHSC Worldcare will be able to assist Swinburne international students with all their OSHC enquiries and provide on-campus services including cash claims.

An OSHC Worldcare representative is available every week at the Hawthorn, Lilydale and Prahran campus. Students can ask questions about their OSHC, apply for holiday credits, seek claiming options, obtain instruction about how to order an OSHC membership card online and much more.

To provide you with further information Swinburne International and OSHC Worldcare provide a Student Self-Service Area (SSA) at the Hawthorn , Prahran and Lilydale campuses. Fact sheets, claim forms, pre-paid envelopes and general information is available for students.

Membership Cards
All Swinburne International students are required to order cards online. When you arrive at Swinburne, you will receive instructions on how to order your overseas student health cover card.

Your OSHC Worldcare membership number is your Swinburne student number followed by SUT, for example: 123456xSUT.

Program Length Cover
It is a requirement at Swinburne University of Technology that you purchase Program Length Cover. Because a once-only payment method applies for this time of cover, even if OSHC premiums increase during the time of your Program Length Cover, you do not have to pay any increase.

Already Have OSHC Cover?
You must still prove program length cover.  Swinburne International can arrange to top up your existing OSHC.  To work how much to pay, count the number of months from your current OSHC expiry date to the end of your course.

Please note that you will need to complete all of Section C of the Offer Acceptance Form.

Students Requiring Family OSHC Cover
Please indicate that you require Family Cover on the International Student Offer Acceptance Form, and include the Family OSHC premium in your deposit.

Once you have arrived in Australia, you can visit or make an appointment to see the OSHC Worldcare representative to arrange to have your family details added to your OSHC membership.

Membership cards will be organised for all family members.
