Overseas Health Cover
It is compulsory for all international students holding student visas, and their dependants, to maintain adequate Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) throughout their course of study1.
1. You do not need OSHC if you are:
- a Norwegian student covered by the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme
- a Swedish student covered by the National Board of Student Aid or by Kammarkollegiet
- a Belgian student covered under the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement with Australia
Visa length cover
Under condition 8501, students will have to obtain OSHC for the proposed duration of their student visa.
For students who will be undertaking a package of courses. OSHC coverage must be continuous from the beginning of their studies through to completion of all courses.
Already have OSHC cover?
Students who already have OSHC must still provide evidence of visa-length cover demonstrating continuous cover through to completion of all courses
Health Cover renewals
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) MUST remain current for the duration of your study visa. The card indicates your membership expiry date. It is your responsibility to renew your OSHC membership before current cover expires.
