About Melbourne

Melbourne skyline from the banks of the Yarra RiverMelbourne is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city of over three million people that enjoys clean fresh air and beautiful parks and gardens.

A city of magnificent architecture, Melbourne prides itself on its spectacular combination of the old and the new. Glorious parks and gardens, elegant streetscapes, and warm and vibrant ethnic communities combine to make Melbourne one of Australia’s most popular destinations for migrants and tourists.

The city is serviced by an excellent transport system which easily copes with a feature-packed social and sporting calendar. Melbourne is clean, green and friendly. It came as no great surprise to residents when it was recently voted as the second most liveable city in the world.

Melbourne is only a short distance from many beautiful beaches perfect for swimming and water sports, as well as the Victorian mountain regions, where skiing is popular during winter.

There is now a brand new free Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle which visits many of the key tourist attractions and destinations in and around the city. The Shuttle runs every 15 minutes between 10 - 4pm daily.
