The Melbourne Film Experience

The Melbourne Film Experience is a 3-week program designed for students with an interest in international film culture, including Australian film, and learning more about the film making process. Students will be given a passport to the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). Over a period of nineteen days, they'll have the opportunity to engage in the vibrant culture of the festival, indulge in a program of up to 350 films from over 50 countries, including a strong regional focus from the Asia Pacific, an excellent animation and short film program, as well as the various forums and events that take place throughout the festival located in the heart of Melbourne.

As well as attending MIFF, students will participate in a short film production course at Swinburne's School of Film and Television. The program will involve a series of lectures and hands on activities taking them step by step through the film making process. Working as part of a group, they will learn how to write, produce, direct and edit their own video productions. They will examine key creative roles and crew responsibilities, learn technical and creative storytelling techniques and gain a good knowledge of digital cameras, sound and lighting equipment and the postproduction process.
