Community Colleges for International Development Inc. (CCID) is a nonprofit consortium of U.S. and international colleges and was founded in 1976.

CCID Objectives:

  • Assistance to other countries in mid-level manpower training and technical/vocational education.

  • Leadership and services in the development of international dimensions at community colleges

  • Opportunities for international study, exchange and professional development for students and faculty of community colleges and cooperating overseas institutions.

The membership of CCID is seen as its strength: 25 board members and 85+ member colleges comprising over 10,000 faculty and staff. Members collectively provide over 500 technical and vocational education programs and all have an active interest in international issues. Of the current 120 members, 89 institutions are based in the U.S., 11 in Denmark, 4 in Australia - Box Hill TAFE, RMIT, TAFE International Western Australia and Swinburne University.

CCID institutions are diverse and unique in geographic location and educational programs. Every consortium member/affiliate college shares a strong commitment to international development.

In 2006 Swinburne University of Technology became a member of CCID with membership providing a range of opportunities primarily for TAFE but with flow-on benefits to the Higher Education Division. Membership provides access to far-reaching networks, programs, services, as well as participation in the development and delivery of international capacity building projects, contract training and student mobility programs.

To activate Swinburne University's participation in CCID a CCID Working Group has been established to develop the strategic directions, operating protocols and procedures for the management of the networks, programs and projects relating to CCID.
