Tournament information

Entry Information

An Individual player may represent only one team. Entry is limited to Swinburne students and employees only, however Swinburne International staff may at their discretion invite community guest players.

All entrants will be allocated to a team on arrival at registration on the morning of the Tournament. In order to maintain equal team competition play, existing team entires are not permitted.

Tournament format

Soccer - Mixed outdoor, four teams, competition is round robin play.

Points are allocated as follows:

  • Winning team receives 3 points
  • Drawn teams receive 1 point per team

At the end of the round robin play, the two teams with the highest accumulated points will continue to the finals match (if teams have the same amount of points – see note below). Final match must be decided by winning goals. At the end of match play, if match is drawn, a Penalty shootout will be played.

Each match lasts 24 minutes with a 5 minute half time.

Team sizes consist of minimum 5, maximum 11 players plus substitutes – this will be decided and distributed evenly at registration on the morning of the match.

Each team may contain teams from all "levels of play". All play will be completed on Saturday 14 April

Note – As stated above, at the end of the round robin play, all teams will have points tallied according to wins and draws. If it is undecided due to teams producing the same amount of points, the highest score will be decided as follows and in the same order as below:

  • Highest average team score
  • Highest number of goals scored overall
  • Head to head outcome

Rules modifications

  • No offside rule applies.
  • Any goal kicks and goal keeper clearances whether by hand or foot must bounce within that goal keeper's half. Failure to do so will result in an in-direct free kick against that team from the half-way line.
  • Opponents must be at least 5 metres from the ball at the taking of any free kick, corner kick etc except in the case of a quick free kick where the referee allows the advantage rule to apply.
  • The referees decision is final and will be adhered to.
