Your key to Melbourne

If you want to enhance your time in Melbourne then the Culture Card is going to be your key to the city!
The Victorian Government has partnered with some great organisations to give you the chance to experience Melbourne culture. There's going to be great offers such as tours to sporting events, gardens and parks, our best markets plus many more!
The Culture Card is free for all international students in Victoria. You can pick yours up at the Student Information Centre (SIC) on your campus.
You can also keep up to date with all the latest offers, upcoming events and activities by registering your details on the Culture Card website.
Semester 2 fees
The first instalment of Semester 2 fees is due on Wednesday 21 July 2010. There are a number of ways you can pay your fees, including in person at the Student Information Centre (SIC). For your safety cash payments will not be accepted at the SIC.
Remember, you must pay your fees on the due date!

Are you due to graduate soon?

If you're going to be finishing your course this semester then you must apply to graduate! Applications close on 16 July 2010 for participation in October graduation ceremonies.
If you choose not to attend your graduation ceremony, you must still apply to receive your testamur.

Swinburne College Orientation 
Welcome
new ELICOS, Foundation Studies and Unilink students!
ELICOS Orientation will commence on Thursday 3 June for Prahran and Hawthorn students. You'll need to check our website for further details on times and venues. Depending on your campus, the process of orientation will differ.
You'll need to bring:
- Your passport
- A photocopy of the photo page and the visa page of your passport and/or e-visa
- Letter of Offer from Swinburne
Foundation and Unilink Orientation will be held on
Tuesday 15 June at the Hawthorn campus. Your Orientation process includes an Online Induction and attendance at one of the Welcome and Briefing sessions. To find out what you need to bring on the day, and to complete the Online Induction, visit the Orientation website.
Going home for the holidays?
If
you're heading home for the holiday break, make sure you update your contact details on SwinLink. If we need to send you any information while you're away, it's important we can contact you in your home country.
International Student Survey winners!
Swinburne International would like to thank everyone who participated in the online survey of new international students.
All up we received around 200 responses! All respondents were put in the draw to win one of five Coles Group Gift Cards valued at $100 each.

Did you arrive in Melbourne in January or February this year?
The Office of Knowledge Capital would like to invite you to attend a session to discuss your experience of arriving in Melbourne
to study, and to provide feedback on the Student Welcome Desk and Student Welcome Kit.
They're looking for your
feedback as a newly arrived student and will run a group discussion about what you thought of the services provided.

Experience the outback with REAL
Jim and Andy are two local students behind the REAL Experience, connecting international students with Aussie culture. They're organising a holiday to Central Australia for Swinburne international students this semester break.
Date: 19 – 26 June 2010

Includes: Transportation only. (You must cover all other expenses)
Along the way you'll get to see Ayres Rock (Uluru), The Olgas (Kata-Juta) and Kings Canyon. The best and cheapest food and accommodation will be recommended and you'll have the freedom to choose what you pay for.

Improve your language and academic skills with LAS
Language and Academic Skills (LAS) Support are now taking registrations for upcoming workshops in July.
Date: 26 - 30 July 2010
Time: There will be two sessions each day, 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm -3.30pm
Location: Library Conference Room, Level 3, Hawthorn Library
The sessions will cover 10 different learning modules and you can attend as many as you like! To enrol you'll need to email lashawthorn@swin.edu.au or phone 9214 5583.

Flu vaccinations
Flu vaccinations are available at the Health Service, Hawthorn Campus for $15. This season, the flu vaccine will also contain Swine flu.

What's on in Melbourne
June has brought winter to Melbourne! But don't let the cold hold you back from checking out a range of exhibitions and festivals on this month.
An exhibition not to be missed is Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition. You'll get to look at over 280 real artefacts from the ship and view a recreation of the grand staircase. Adult tickets are priced at $24.00 with concession tickets available for $18.00.
Croatian and Portuguese culture will come alive in June as both nations host their own festivals to celebrate their culture and heritage in Melbourne.
A Taste of Portugal will be a festival of food, drink and dance, and the Croatian Festival will showcase traditional dress and cooking demonstrations. Both festivals are a great way to take in Melbourne's rich cultural heritage whilst having some fun at the same time!
