Advanced Diploma of Marketing from Laos

"The reasons why I choose to do marketing course because marketing is an interesting subject and it can fulfil other subjects. I worked in the banking area before, I saw many weakpoints of marketing in my company and in the Lao banking sector as well. I hope that what I gain from this course will be contributed to strengthen banking services and in Laos to be better, and new banking products and services can soon appear.

Be confident to what you choose and every Uni in Australia are good but they have to look at many reasons that suitable for them. I recommend Swinburne is one of best Uni and they never feel rigid to experience it."

Puspita PramiluwatiPuspita Pramiluwati

Master of Communication Design student from Indonesia

"This course provides knowledge and experience that I need to support my current job in Indonesia. I work in a government institution which deals with small industries and their product packaging, so it is important to know more about design and how to make their products appeal for consumer.

I like this course because it gives me opportunity to interact with student from other design major (interior, product and multimedia), something that I didn’t get from my previous study. Therefore we can always see the problems and create the solution from different point of views."

I had two optional places to study this course, in Swinburne or RMIT. But I chose Swinburne because the cd presentation of the faculty of design looked much better than RMIT. To be honest, RMIT is more famous in my country; however when I arrived here, there are lots of Indonesian student who study design major in Swinburne and most of them claim that the design major in Swinburne is better than other campus.

Despite the recent news about racism, this place is very friendly and good for international student. But it doesn’t hurt to be prepared from the beginning and learned about foods, accommodation, transportation, etc. Other than that, just pack your bag and be ready for new adventure!"

Gerardo Antonio CastilloGerardo Antonio Castillo

Graduate Diploma of Entrepreneurship and Innovation student from the Philippines

"I've felt at home in Swinburne mainly because of the multicultural atmosphere. I need not worry about racial issues here and the people are really great whether international or locals.

One plus factor I like in Swinburne is the public transport – it's very accessible. I think it is one of the main factors to consider for international students.

Australia is far better than other countries because I feel it's safe compared to some European countries and America.

I have recommended Swinburne to my fellow co-workers back home.

The university really takes care and prioritises its international students. The feedback from other AusAID students from the Phillippines is that they don't have such active and dedicated staff. I feel lucky that I've been able to attend and participate in all the social trips that were organised by Swinburne International."

John JambertJohn Memp Jambert

Master of Commerce (International Business) (Leadership Stream) student from Papua New Guinea

"I have chosen Swinburne because of the unique Global Leadership Program that incorporates two separate Australian and American master degrees in two years. In addition, Swinburne is upcoming and innovative compared to the other universities in Australia and globally in terms of teaching quality, generic skills and staff qualifications. Finally, I consider Melbourne the friendly and open city to live in. The most distinctive feature being its cultural diversity, the effective public transport network, and of course its trademark four-seasons-in-one-day weather conditions."

"A dream comes true! During my earlier days as a youth at high school my dream was to become one of those well-known Scientists like Professor Lameck Goma in Zambia. This was my dream! So with a multi-disciplinary scientific background in Animal health, Laboratory Sciences and chemistry I went to do a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedicine at the University of Zambia. This opened the way 'that one day I would get there' and makes my dream come true. It was a step in the right direction!

Australia is the place to be for it is a developed country, people are friendly and has all it takes to make scientists in the field of Biotechnology. "

Therefore I myself would like to be a part in this industry. What I like about my course is leaning how to manage the business and how to lead a tour group.

Swinburne has a good reputation in my country and I receive a very good assistance in settlement as well as academic support services. Go for the course you like and check which university can give a good service to international students."

Philip TakiruaPhilip Takirua

Bachelor of Aviation (Management) student from Papua New Guinea

"I chose Swinburne because the Hawthorn campus is conveniently located. It's surrounded by shops and restaurants and just minutes away from the city by train.

The course I'm studying here is in line with my career – I'm learning all the essentials that I need to become a better employee.

I encourage students coming to Swinburne to make the most of their time in Australia. You will find that learning is not only in the classroom. Try to join social clubs at the university to explore yourself and new interests. And go on the heavily subsidised university-organised trips to see popular locations around Victoria. Have fun!"

Malavanh VilaysomMalavanh Vilaysom

Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) student from Laos

"Swinburne is the only university which separates Master of Human Resource Management from Master of Business Administration (MBA). For this reason, I have chosen to study here.

The teaching methods include activities such as role play, demo activities and workshops. I really like these as they enable students to develop ideas and understanding about a particular subject. Swinburne might be small compared to other universities, but the quality of teaching is exceptional."

Mingngakham PangnasakMingngakham Pangnasak

"The main reason I have come to study at Swinburne is that I was very impressed with the Swinburne staff that came to visit my country for an information session. They were very friendly and helpful.

Swinburne really guides and cares for new students. The staff understand international students in terms of their needs. But you also need to remember to grow and become independent.

The Swinburne study environment is a very positive one."

"I previously worked in HR and I realised that there were some areas in this field of which I didn't have deep knowledge. I decided to take this course to obtain the skills that I wanted.

The course provides me with broad knowledge of different areas working as an HR person and it constantly reminds me of the key areas that I previous didn't think about.

The course content provided is very concise and suggests the suitable careers related to the field of studies.

If you wish to gain both theoritical and practical skills from the selected course – Swinburne will be the best choice."
